The Fire Department was invited to visit the Cooper
Elementary School in Bella Vista to share personal
safety tips with the student body. The Gravette Fire Department
was kind to loan their smoke education
trailer for the kids to practice drills in. They
learned about finding
accessible
points of egress and planning a safe escape from
their home during a fire. They also learned the
importance of checking doors for heat before opening
them and how to stay low to the ground to help avoid
smoke inhalation and burns.
The Bella Vista Fire Dept training team spent time
showing off various pieces of fire equipment and truck
apparatus to the kids. The children also had fun
trying-on the various pieces of protective clothing that
firefighters wear during their emergency calls.
