On August 1st, 2009 a report of a single-vehicle
roll-over accident was dispatched to Station
1 with Squad 1, Rescue 1 , and Battalion 1 responding
to the scene of the accident. As noted below, one
vehicle was found turned over at the scene.
The operator of the vehicle was initially reported to be
pinned under the vehicle, but when units arrived on scene,
the passenger was easily freed and found to be mobile.
It's
fortunate that airbags deployed and the passenger had been
wearing their seatbelt. Without these safety features, the
impact was great enough to cause major injury or death.
We're thankful that this vehicle had impacted a tree and not
another vehicle.
One patient was transported to NWMC for additional medical
care.
Speed is a constant killer with motor
vehicle accidents. This accident is an example of how
rushing to your destination can sometimes prevent you from
arriving safely. Please choose to drive safely when
traveling these technical Bella Vista roadways.
