On the evening of March 13th, 2009 a report of a rollover
Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment was received.
Squads 1 & 2, Rescue 1, and Battalion 1 were dispatched to
the scene located on the southbound side of hwy 71 near
Hampstead. Two occupants were found. The driver of the
vehicle was still seat-belted inside, but incoherent, and
the passenger was outside of the vehicle seated on the
ground. Both occupants were treated for multiple
life-threatening injuries and were transported to NWBC for
additional care.
It's
fortunate that no other vehicles were involved. The
speedometer of the vehicle was found pinned at over 90 mph
at the scene. You'll note the extensive
damage to the vehicle and broken trees along the roadside
that potentially cushioned the impact.
