Disaster Drill 11-18-06

The Bella Vista Fire Department would like to thank the Bella Vista Baptist Church and the church members for letting us use their church, and for the help of the members who made this disaster drill a success. We would also like to thank the CERT Team members for their participation.

On November 18, 2006 the Bella Vista Fire Department held a disaster drill at the Bella Vista Baptist Church. The disaster was an improvised propane explosion with fire in the lower part of the church. Smoke bombs were used outside and a smoke generator was used inside for a realistic effect. Firefighter/Paramedic Rod Barrett  performed moulage on some volunteer church members, the victims, to have all types of injuries from smoke inhalation to impaled objects. The Bella Vista CERT Teams also assisted in the drill. Including the CERT members in the drill provides them with realistic perspective of their duties and responsibilities during a disaster.

Smoke bombs were used to generate smoke outside.

Firefighter/EMT Jason Bowman operates a smoke generator used to generate the smoke inside.
