Fire Extinguisher Training


The Bella Vista Fire Department is dedicated to providing the best fire extinguisher training and information to all individuals and groups alike.

The fire extinguisher training will cover the following:

  • Types of fire extinguishers.
  • Which fire extinguisher to use for different fire.
  • How big a fire can a fire extinguisher put out.
  • How to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Hands on fire extinguisher usage.

These devices contribute to the extinguishment or containment of small fires if used properly.  Before any extinguisher is used, a clearly accessible exit from any fire danger should first be considered.  Also ensure that you are using the correct extinguisher for the type of fire you are attempting to extinguish.  Reference the following symbols for the proper application:

Type AType BType C
     Flammable Liquids    Electrical Equipment

INFORMATION:
Type A - Ordinary Combustibles
These include common household items such as paper, trash, wood and cloth.


Type B - Flammable Liquids

Gasoline, cooking oils or fats, oil based paint and kerosene are just some of these.


Type C - Electrical Equipment
Wall outlets, power cords, small and large appliances, wiring and fuse boxes fall under this category.
