Summer Fire Prevention Tips

Summer is a time of fun and relaxation, to help ensure this happens, make fire prevention a priority. The Bella Vista Fire Department suggests the following:

Store only enough gasoline to power your lawn mower. Store gasoline in a shed or other place outside the home away from any possible heat source. Also, ensure that gasoline is stored in approved containers only.

Store and use pool chemicals according to manufacturers instructions. Keep them in a dry place outside your home.

When camping keep your campfire small and use it only for cooking and warmth.

Never wear loose fitting clothes around a fire.

Dont leave children unattended and never leave them near a campfire alone.

Limit fire hazards by keeping the campfire area free of twigs, dried leaves and overhanging branches.

If fire gets on your clothing or someone elses, remember to STOP, DROP, and ROLL to smother the flames.

Safety is the key to a safe summer!
